Narcissism in Music Videos

Narcissism originates from the myth of Narcissus, a man who rejected everyone as he admired himself and his body too much. He died as he saw his own reflection in some water, and fell in love with it. As he was not able to look away, he fell into the water and drowned.

Narcissism constantly occurs in music videos. Audiences can recognize an aspect of themselves or their aspirations or a sense of belonging in the text. For example, someone could see a superhero saving the world or a sportsman becoming the best in the world and desire to be that person. This is usually felt by men more than women.

Many people aspire to be World Champions in a sport such as Formula 1

Narcissism will be in our music video, whether it is through close ups of the singer or images from the narrative story. Close ups of the singer are narcissistic as many people aspire to be a singer or performer.
